see ya in the New Year.

A delicious double mix of an unreleased compilation mix CD that never saw the light of day due to unforeseen circumstances the release was shelved until now! The Global Cowboy, DJ Pathaan as you will know from our posts of his World Peace Mix and his Ibiza Playlist mix is an old cohort of this blog and has just uploaded these mixes so we can all enjoy what we originally missed..The first mix would have been CD1 and entitled 'Love Throughout The World' and the second mix CD2 would have been entitled 'Dancing To A Different Drum’. On these mixes he perfectly showcases his early musical stylings prior to 9.11, When he had a monthly residency in NYC for 2 years...Originally to have been released on Danish label Music For Dreams. Quality music from a pioneering DJ....Enjoy!
Sigmafly (Σ-Fly) is Manchester based Tom Holmes. Fresh from his incredible free EP on Essay's Warminal label he's put together a blinder EP for those quality purveyors of fine muzik CUT. Taking the musical aesthetics from the likes of Boards Of Canada, Lapalux, Burial and some of the previous Cut producers like Great Skies or Essay, Tom envelops all the great parts and ultimately produces his own emotive, melodic and beautifully deep take on the style. With carefully considered layers of intricate sound, chimes, piano, vocal snippets and echoing percussion these truly crafted pieces of outstanding audio make for great individual pieces, but combined, as an EP you can really appreciate the value of his aesthetic. More shenanigans outta Edinburgh from the ever so consistent netlabel CUT. Thefft's 'The Primer EP' is causing a bit of a stir at the moment, and it seems, for good reason. His lower-tempo, rhythmic creations are stuffed with percussive snaps and clicks designed to move a dark sweaty dancefloor, with the track 'Stares' doing for me!

A lost mix has just resurfaced thanks to the Bossman himself, who's unearthed this little gem from 2001...At the time i was participating in a DJ tour of Japan, when towards the end of the trip we was invited to perform at the WA project/Peace Parade in Yoyogi Park in Tokyo. As a rehearsal for the gig we both went into a friends studio and messed around with samples, jingles & differing styles, it got recorded. A bit ruff around the edges but still sounding great...Enjoy!
To celebrate 7even recordings 20th release on their label, they have upped and shared a free exclusive mini compilation...Go get that shit! Stand out track 'The Dawn' is written and produced by François Martin AKA LIKHAN' with the sample of ‘Feeling Good’ by Nina Simone. Wicked stuff!

Deadboy's remix of Paul Weller's recently released 'Starlite EP' on Island....you wouldn't guess ah!..Nice it up.

Looking forward to this dropping in October via Warp records Kinshasa One Two is a collection of Congolese artists brought together by Damon Albarn all to benefit Oxfam and recorded in just 5 days with 11 producers adding their unique talents. Ordered mine...Awesome stuff!

The first volume of tracks from the project we blogged about earlier, which feature producers who use Roy Ayers’ catalog to make original beats has been released as a free download...Get on it!

Jus dropped into my inbox from the irresistible remixer/re-edit master Leftside Wobble, here he's re-jiged the Classic Bobby Konders track, an adaption of the intro section that uses another BK classic 'Nervous Acid' to draw you in whilst maintaining the atmospherics of the original Mutabaruka spoken word intro before dropping into the classic groove...Niceeeee!
Head over to bandcamp and receive some gem tunes from the Label Love collective of imprints now on vol 3..Another beautifully compiled sampling of unreleased music from some of the best independent labels worldwide. An eclectic yet unified bundle of unique sounds compiled simply for the love of sharing them with the universe - each track plucked and presented by label heads from DeconRecords, FatBeats, One-Handed Music, Stones Throw, Tru Thoughts, Wah Wah 45s, and Wax Poetics. A Troll’s Soiree for me.. nJoy!.
A suave afro-funk interpretation of the classic Al Green tune.. A previously unreleased Bwana mix....that got an outing on the Republica Afrobeat vol 2 comp a few years ago....Quality stuff...NjOy!
A Summer house chugger for ya from Baobinga's Joint Ventures LP on his own Build Recordings. "Barbakan" Is in Colab with Mancunian producer xxxy ( remember him who gave us the sick Fela rework). In fact the whole LP is a collaboration with fellow forward thinking artists such as Hyetal, Geiom, Kowton, Gemmy & Guido. But here we get all wet & sticky with a tuff percussive, colour-soaked dance track for those lazy daze and drive thru's....Essential.
There is currently, a documentary in progress called the Roy Ayers Project featuring the Man himself, as well as many hip-hop producers who have sampled his music and other people who have been influenced by him and his music. The documentary is planned to be released in early 2012. Keep your ears to tha ground, i can`t wait for this!
Something that was dropped into my lap last weekend and I really hadn't had a chance to digest it fully and you know anything with hard rock in the title normally puts me right off straight away, but this little comp from the Now-Again peeps really digs deep with a 70's untold story of various underground music scenes from Indonesia. Weather it be psychedelic, progressive rock or low down dirty funk, it's all here and this is my pick of the bunch.....Njoy!
Fresh out from my old mate Pathaan a cool summer Ibiza playlist of his recent favorite balearic tunes. Essential beach lounging headphone vibes...Njoy!
