Wow! The Man Gil Scott-Heron is Back.
Monday night saw BBC Newsnight journalist Stephen Smith interview the legendary poet/musician and godfather of rap...see here, about his forthcoming brand new material to be released on XL recordings in early (10th Jan) 2010. To say i"m more than a little excited by the news, like a child waiting for Christmas is no exaggeration..Check here for a video of his new track "where did the night go" and a free download of the song....Big props to Richard Russell @ XL for pulling this off!....Can't wait.

'Future Children, Future Hopes'

Sometimes i do wonder and worry, like all parents, what the future holds for my nearly 4 year old daughter. With our wonderful planet home, increasingly becoming unsustainable by the year and violent conflict in so many places, due to the pattens of our inhuman behaviour. The thought of a world in which so many children are living in poverty, with malnutrition and abuse (physically, emotionally) death and trauma, brings me nothing but a deep depression...But i have hope that we will as a species come to our senses and realise the children are our future...Our only real hope is that we can evolve to provide them a space without the horrors that befall them now, a space of peace, justice, learning and plenty. Its when i think these thoughts that my depression melts away...Melts into the music, the sounds that have uplifted me and consoled me on so many moments during my life.!!....This is for Emmilee, nearly 4.

Me & A Friend!

Well last night was the first time i got behind the decks, well CDJ`s in about 4 years and the feeling was so liberating. It was an event put on by a friend DJ mac-key at a great little Loft style room above an asian food establishment called "Magia" The vibe was excellent with a great little crowd into all the music dropped by the DJ`s akira, m-rah and mac-key..but the highlight of the evening was the live show half way through the evening by the guys who go by the name of C4 Blues Poem In The Bosom..a tech-jazz, afro-ambient floetry combo that divided the evening with some fantastic spiritual vibes...So this goes out especially to those guys, hope we can do it again soon.
