Seeds

The highly anticipated LP by Georgia Anne Muldrow is about to drop on the 27th courtesy of SomeOthaShip Connect  and the first full length project produced by the Beat Konducta Sensei: Madlib.
We've been busting the title single since it's release in February and never tire of it...It just Pops in all the right places and as GAM says herself  'It's a diss record to that ugly corporation Monsanto, about seeds, children and contemplating the future'   Right Onn!

CUT09

Already out of the blocks for 2012 come the ever reliable Net Label CUT's 9th release. Existance - AKA Louis Hunt, produces three excellent tracks of deep dubstep influences from the vocal-led "Miles Apart" (my personal fav) to the piano-driven bliss of Pelennor Fields, continuing the emotive sounds of the existing Cut catalogue...Free Download.
Highly Recommended.

CUT08

Sigmafly (Σ-Fly) is Manchester based Tom Holmes. Fresh from his incredible free EP on Essay's Warminal label he's put together a blinder EP for those quality purveyors of fine muzik CUT. Taking the musical aesthetics from the likes of Boards Of Canada, Lapalux, Burial and some of the previous Cut producers like Great Skies or Essay, Tom envelops all the great parts and ultimately produces his own emotive, melodic and beautifully deep take on the style. With carefully considered layers of intricate sound, chimes, piano, vocal snippets and echoing percussion these truly crafted pieces of outstanding audio make for great individual pieces, but combined, as an EP you can really appreciate the value of his aesthetic. The tune in mention is called 'Save Our Soul' by DJ Sunday Roast aka Matthew Page, forthcoming on a brand new label called WeRBassuk. Even as i woke sunday the damn tune was still reverberating in me head, a spiritual vocal heavy bass 4x4 monster with tinges of tribal percussion running thruout. Sure this gonna blow up! SOS is the 3rd track in on the preview below.

East Of U

In 1971, in the midst of America's invasion of Vietnam, the U.S. Army held a show-band contest and showcased the two winning bands in a promotional album. East of Underground, were the gritty runners-up, who managed to capture the spirit of the times with their sweet-soul covers of Sly Stone, Curtis Mayfield, and Funkadelic. A Short documentary film Produced by Wax Poetics and Scion and directed by David Hollander.

ATCQ on screen

Just caught the sundance screener of the new docu-film directed by Michael Rapaport Beats Rhymes and Life: The Travels Of a Tribe Called Quest, charting the band's triumphant and turbulent 20-year career. ATCQ has been one of the most commercially successful and artistically significant musical groups in recent history, and regarded as iconic pioneers of hip hop. A must see travel around the groups up & downs.
I can still remember the buzz around the basement of the newly opened Black Market records in SoHo, London when their "Description of a Fool" promo dropped in the UK..

From July 8th around the US and soon the world!!
