Kinshasa Superbad

Following on from the DRC Music  Kinshasa 1.2 concept LP dropped last year by Damon Albarn, Warp Records  & Oxfam, there now comes a new musical documentary 'Congotronics vs. Rockers' an evolving cast of 10 Congolese musicians and 10 members of various indie-rock bands who've come together to record and play live gigs across the world. Filmmaker Pierre Laffargue has chronicled the Superband - which includes members of Konono N°1, Deerhoof, and Wildbirds &  Peacedrums plus Juana Molina and others..A project conceived by Marc Hollander and Vincent Kenis from Crammed Discs in Belgium. Here's the first glimpse of the promo Reel.

Here you check out the Congolese members of the live group on their way to last years Fuji Rock festival in Naeba, Japan.

Body & Soul

An Afro classic coming outta West Africa in the late 70's early 8o's. William Onyeabor a contemporary of the mighty Fela and indulging also in the social-political woes of his country and the world, but instead of following the raw Afro-beat of Fela's grooves, WO goes for an altogether more smoother funky/disco style. Lifted from Booniay!! A Compilation of West African Funk, pure afrofunk pleasure!!...Njoy.

Times Are Hard Friends Are Few

Chillin' with a heavy head cold ain't no fun but with some spiritual righteous vibes from Del Jones 'Positive Vibes' 1973 LP, re-issued in Japan, that's similar in vain to the legendary Gil Scott-Heron, helps ease the suffering! This is one of those top-notch albums that really needs your attention..seek it out..Njoy!
