CutMusic have just released their 12th installment from Berlin based Roughquest. The 'hybred EP' is another solid released from the Edinburgh label and one sure to find itself into many a DJ set, from the low slung atmospheric start of 'outside of you' featuring one Jessie Grace on vocals, thru tha deep percussive tribalism of 'northern lights' and finishing off the journey with tha dubby techno of 'the menace'. The whole EP is an expansive exploration of rhythm and tech-styled melody....Recommended!

Some more new FREEness comes courtesy of the Abaga label outta Edinburgh, Scotland. Remember we posted this track from them last year, 'Chatty'. They have just dropped a debut EP by Bristol-based producer Quektis...A tasteful heavy bassline, dubstep with reggae influenced grooves. With remixes of Bob Marley's "Sun Is Shining" and our Fav on the EP a remix of RadiKal Guru's "Inilusion".This is a hard-hitting, dancefloor-worthy EP with a hint of humour and animation samples. Already out of the blocks for 2012 come the ever reliable Net Label CUT's 9th release. Existance - AKA Louis Hunt, produces three excellent tracks of deep dubstep influences from the vocal-led "Miles Apart" (my personal fav) to the piano-driven bliss of Pelennor Fields, continuing the emotive sounds of the existing Cut catalogue...Free Download.

Sigmafly (Σ-Fly) is Manchester based Tom Holmes. Fresh from his incredible free EP on Essay's Warminal label he's put together a blinder EP for those quality purveyors of fine muzik CUT. Taking the musical aesthetics from the likes of Boards Of Canada, Lapalux, Burial and some of the previous Cut producers like Great Skies or Essay, Tom envelops all the great parts and ultimately produces his own emotive, melodic and beautifully deep take on the style.With carefully considered layers of intricate sound, chimes, piano, vocal snippets and echoing percussion these truly crafted pieces of outstanding audio make for great individual pieces, but combined, as an EP you can really appreciate the value of his aesthetic. More shenanigans outta Edinburgh from the ever so consistent netlabel CUT. Thefft's 'The Primer EP' is causing a bit of a stir at the moment, and it seems, for good reason. His lower-tempo, rhythmic creations are stuffed with percussive snaps and clicks designed to move a dark sweaty dancefloor, with the track 'Stares' doing for me!

Chatty!

Something that dropped into my inbox last week outta Edinburgh Bass label, Abaga.
From Leicester (UK) based producer ODEA "The Circuit EP" borders on the darker side of the dubstep genre, without the clichés, just all-out bass and beats.The track "Chatty" that pricked up our ears on first listen and continues not to disappoint. The relentless sub keeps you in tha groove coupled with Odea's idiosyncratic percussion and you have a brutal yet infectious sonic barrage with dubby overtones. Deep!

The creative CUT netlabel are back again on there 6th re;ease, pushing deep, low-slung, downtempo beats and percussion with glistening washes of synth that perfectly encapsulates that glow of the evening light, that slow burn of a setting sun, and that hint of the Summer coming to a close. Personal favorite being the track 'Dry'. Free download or just drop a little bit of coinage for the EP. Recommended.

Feel For Bumps

Some more freeness from the quality CUT netlabel, now on release number 04 is the "Feel For Bumps EP" by Bristolian producer Bryn Thomas who brings us something a little more beats orientated. A simple mix of up-front soulful hip hop beats, borderline wonky, catchy synths and a sprinkle of downtempo vibes....always xcelent output from the stable and one that surely needs supporting in these difficult times...Drop some coinage for the EP on the bandcamp page.
