"Gimme That Funk" # 18
I`ve neglected the "GTF" for a while now so enough of all these bleeps and 4/4 grooves lets get back to some damn dirty ole FUNK....Ok! here`s a seriously funky joint from `72 released on the Blue Candle label..featuring the vocal talents of Robert Moore Jr, later to be lead vocalist of "Notorious Miami" an in-house soul/funk/disco band of T.K records. "Cramp Your Style" has got that raw gritty funk groove that i`m sure your all dig...enjoy

Shinkansen
While trolling the youtube after yesterday`s post i came across this wonderful vid...Music is again from Tom Middleton from his "Lifetracks" LP from 2007. The video is produced by Ben Mason, using footage he shot on his travels in Japan..Love it! as it sets my mood right now as the Northern snow flakes are falling.

Funk in the Fridge
National holiday today here in Nippon and i`m feeling rather chilled and this just popped up in my musical subconscious. Written & Produced by Mark Pritchard & Tom Middleton AKA Global Communication, Link, E621, Reload, Secret Ingredients & Chameleon. "Maiden Voyage ep", released in `94 on the now de-funkted "Dedicated" label.
From the rainforest intro, the tune just grooves along at a leisurely funky pace....Beautiful and just so right!
Tracklist;
A1. Maiden Voyage (Original 8'07>5'23 Version)
A2. Maiden Voyage (Spiritualized Electric Mainline Mix) Remix - J. Spaceman
AA. Funk In The Fridge

mixtape - sayurideep
Here`s a recent mytea@om mixtape to share courtesy of a lovely young friend and a sweetheart to boot Sayuri-chan....I made this up for her birthday and she has kindly given me permission to post it up for all of you guys & gals....so go on, indulge yourself in a little (winter or summer as the case may be) boogie around the house. Starting off with some percussive beats, gently into the dubby techno, thru the deep house and exiting with jazz..
Enjoy!

I Am Your Mind
(artwork reproduced with kind permission from HVW8)

(all rights reserved)
I normally don`t like reworkings of my favorite jazz/funk artist the legendary vibraphone player Roy Ayers...but "I am Your Mind" by Parisian DJ/producer/remixer Pépé Bradock is an exception. Here his recontexualisation of the original piece of music with his own special style of subtle tweaking of the electronic knobs brings a sparkling brew of rhythm that invokes feelings of swaying through fields of sunflowers listening to that spiritual voice in your mind harmonising together, wanting to be your friend, wanting to be free, just listen to me.
Lifted from his unique collection of his finest remixes from the past decade, Pépé Bradock`s "Confiote De Bits/A Remix Collection" on bbe is an essential dose of music to have in one`s record box...Njoy!

Warp20 - Tokyo
Although they inspire a love/hate relationship with many in the electronic music scene, there is no doubt WARP records over the past 20 years have cut an imposing figure as one of the most influential independent record labels around. Already holding celebrational parties around the world, this weekend see`s the label take on TKO..in conjunction with electraglide. Including in the line-up is the man from the "Rotters Golf Club" DJ Andrew Weatherall, and new acts such as Hudson Mohawke and the psychedelic hiphop of Flying Lotus.
I`ve always been a bit partial to Boards of Canada myself and this track from the recreated versions of Warp songs by Warp artists released on the box set that coinsides with the anniversary.

Golden Dream
In a vintage soundtrack studio somewhere in Paris previously inhabited by the likes of Nina Simone and Serge Gainsbourg and many others.

Equally soothing for the winter months or basking on sun drenched beaches..enjoy!

Definitely Not Forgotten!
Another little break taken here at mytea@om, many things had to be organised before the long winter hibernation that is life here in these northern climes of Nippon...Also its good to take a back seat once in a while and evaluate everything with fresh enthusiasm...Hope you all didn"t miss it too much!
I had become a wee bit nostalgic while away, crawling thru some dusty old classics and came across this gem from the early 90`s...From the boys that defined progressiveness. The Professor (Neal Barnes) and Pauly D, AKA LEFTFIELD. It has and always will be one of my greatest pleasures to have known them personally....They even helped us out when I and 2 co-founders started our own independent dance record shop around the same period....(big respex always to you boys)
This track was caned back then and could still get an airing today and give you goose bumbs!...Released on the Outer Rhythm label......enjoy!
(download)
Tracklist:
A. Not Forgotten (6:40
B1.Not Forgotten (Fateh's On The Case) (6:13)
B2.Not Forgotten (Dub) (4:48)
