Sita Sings The Blues

Has an interesting mix of animation, Indonesian shadow puppet work and 1920's era jazz. Animator Nina Paley's indulges us in her own interpretation of the Hindu epic Ramayana
"the greatest break-up story ever told" and set it to the 1920's jazz vocals of Annette Hanshaw to imaginative effect...The eclectic cultural tapestry that is Sita Sings the Blues, is an 82-minute feature that combines autobiography with a retelling of the classic Indian myth..Betty Boop rocks and you know it!

First heard dropped by that crafty casual DJ Ross Allen, a cracking piece of jackmyfunkysoul house muzik with bags of humour and a big bouncy bassline from out of the woods Sarf London lads Joe Goddard(Hot Chip) & DJ Raf Daddy (AKA the2bears). Their debut EP on Southern Fried Records includes 2 original tracks with 'Be Strong' a nod to London soundsystem culture, that's rockin' all over the mt@o HQ and a stunning rework of Marvin Gaye’s “Mercy Mercy Me” and a cover of Sade “When Am I Going To Make a Living”. Made in 2009 ANALOG by Ebbëto tells the tale of a machine travelling in deep-space which has as a primary function the preservation of a living organism: a man.
Strange events with biblical analogies begin, disturbing the machine and making it rethink it's priorities.

This short extract features the music of OIL 10 "Passagen", by the French electronic music composer, Gilles Rossire.

ANALOG is Ebbëto's 2nd short film. His first, Lagartija Nika, can be seen online at Tokyo's CON-CAN Film Festival site.

So the financial crisis afflicting Greece and the rest of Europe is spiraling out of control as our so-called leaders agree to a nearly $1 trillion, yeah you read that right, ONE FREAKING TRILLION DOLLARS rescue package of taxpayers money aimed at helping out the weak Euro economies..and as we keep printing money out of thin air the only result will be hyper-inflation on the same scale as Germany in the 3T's...It's gonna get rough out there people.

So what if we all just stopped funding our Governments who in turn are bending over backwards for the criminal banksters to shaft us some more?.....Just a thought!

Here Shackleton who has been carving out his own brand of eclecticism on numerous releases, delivers a deep dubbed out snaking percussive driver of a tune and possibly his finest remix to date..Apparently the remix was mastered at the world famous Dubplates in Berlin....Now that's worth it!...
