African Bump

A great limited 12" just right for the xmas party season is from Tom Noble reknown disco/soul/funk/j-pop re-editer. This tight little track is brought to us by the Peoples Potential Unlimited record label, containing two great edits. Apparently its an unreleased record by obscure mexican group called "Grupo Santa Cecilia"...wicked!

Vertigo

Back in 2001 (before i moved over here,) I came to Japan at the request of the Audio Sutra record label (can`t believe it`s nearly 10 years already) who had organised a 5 city "make love not war tour" taking in Tokyo/Hiroshima/Kumamoto/Okinawa/Sapporo...During that tour there was one beautiful piece of sublime wax that was undoubtedly the "tune of the tour"

Dropped into the mix by that prodigious DJ/Producer Ian Simmonds who accompanied and headlined the tour. Stacey Pullen`s "Vertigo" a tune once heard loud over a quality sound system, bristled your emotional responses big-time. With the angelic-style female vocals over a deep bruken beat & hypnotic landscape of strings, the resulting sonic soundscape is powerful yet delicate.
(Pullen's claim that it reduced one listener to tears in the studio)
Is something i can attest to, i saw many a watery eye on that tour after this tune was dropped.

(big props to my man @ innersounds who dug up a copy for me)

Guest Mix - Drums & Other Funky Patterns

Another great guest mix this time from Musician/DJ/Teacher Soulspy Aka Max Schneider from uberkool Berlin. As well as producing music solo he also produces as one half of SoulPatrol in collaboration with Dj Michael Rutten releasing tracks on INFRACom & Compost records in Germany as well as providing music for the Nippon connection film festival.

With "Drums & Other Funky Patterns" Max delivers 76 minutes of pure jazz/funk joy!

Originally mixed quite a few years ago for a friend who wasn`t too partial to the music or so he thought....But with Max weaving his way thru such gems from Nina Simone, Max Roach, Prof Longhair and Eddie Bo, he undoubtedly became converted...Enjoy.
