Last Shop Standing

Some great stories in this documentary that was inspired by the book of the same name by Graham Jones takes you behind the counter to discover why nearly 2000 record shops have already disappeared across the UK. The film charts the rapid rise of record shops in the 1960′s, 70′s and 80′s, the influence of the chart, the underhand deals, the demise of vinyl and rise of the CD as well as new technologies. Where did it all go wrong? Why were 3 shops a week closing? Will we be left with no record shops with the continuing rise of downloading? Hear from over 20 record shop owners and music industry leaders as well as musicians including Paul Weller, Johnny Marr, Norman Cook, Billy Bragg, Nerina Pallot, Richard Hawley and Clint Boon as they all tell us how the shops became and still are a part of their own musical education, a place to cherish and discover new bands and new music.

Desire 願う

Looking thru drafts i had forgotten to post brought me to this, dropped back in April by Mark Redito AKA Spazzkid outta the LA beat scene via Manila..Desire is a work of lo-fi grittiness that switches the beats up multiple times within songs and allows the tracks to morph into entirely different beasts. With superb production that's sleek, bubbly, and really fresh, the beats are so crisp you could bite right into them...Quality stuff!!

Cosmic Compositions Avant Garde Series Vol.3

The next Installment in the Avant Garde Series outta New Zealand is dedication to Saturn born composer, bandleader, piano and synthesizer player, poet and philosopher ~ Sun Ra.
35 tracks bridging the similarities between the Avant-Garde/Free Jazz movement of the 50's & 60's & the beat movement of Today

"Claiming that he was of the "Angel Race" and not from Earth, but from Saturn, Sun Ra developed a complex persona using "cosmic" philosophies and lyrical poetry that made him a pioneer of afrofuturism, free jazz. & electronic music. Sun Ra & his Arkestra's discography is one of the largest in music history and he is often regarded as one of the prolific recording artists of the 20th century. After departing Earth in 1993 Sun Ra legacy in music continues to influence artists worldwide and has changed the world of music as we know it."

Real luv

With newz of an additional life arriving at mytea@om towers soon, you can imagine how much time gets eaten up with the mundane..like washing shitty nappies and the like....
But we try here to keep it all rollin' along and believe me it's getting harder and harder as the years go bye!.Not because the desire for new or old music ever diminishes, it's just it takes up a lot of fucking time.....ya know what i mean!!  So we hack back on to Damiano von Erckert  who we bigged upped last time with his remix of Murat Tepeli's " "The Fee Fi Foe Funk For Me "
And now he offers up a funky upload from his 'Love Based Music' LP..
Pure class IMHO!

Understanding Is Everything

Is Ian O'Brien's 10-track instrumental record with all proceeds going directly to provide materials for elementary schools in the Tohoku area , North Eastern region of Japan that was devastated by the Earthquake/Tsunami in March 11, 2011 and remains in desperate need of help....Support!!

He says of this project..

"This work represents my resolute opposition to war and violence of any nature. Despite the sometimes disturbing world we live in, I continue to dream of World Peace and co-operation between people and nations no matter how absurd that may sound, or how far we may be from that place and time. One day, the day will come when all wars and conflicts will end - the day the last person says "no more."
This album is simply my dream of that day".

Definitions of a Poet

As with the previous post we are such a sucka for anythang with a hint of the great poet/vocalist GSH infused within the groove here at mytea@om, and another little gem that fits the bill is from young Berliners, Elias Fughe AKA Saîle and Max Ardnt, who combine a bouncy b-line with raw shuffling percussion, interspersed with samples of GSH's vocal snippets.!...Available as a free D/L courtesy of ChevengurMelody net label.....Super duper!!
