High Friends In Places

Is the latest 3-tracker EP from CUTmusic's head-honcho DFRNT. Here he's taking modern dub stylings in a different direction. First up with some up-beat synth-led brass-spattered 4-4 dub breaks, moving on to super-low sub, fluttering basslines and filtered horns and the last track finds him in more dubbed-out synth-led territory with a plodding bassline and vocal snippets. Just in Time for the New Year...Free D/L or drop some pennies for the Artist...Gorgeous!!!

On The Run

I’m keeping all the scars you gave me
I show them to you indirectly
I’m scratching at the pain within
Let me show you how the world begins
I’m so terrified of losing you
I may be a prophet but I need a clue
I’ve walked the earth my feet dark with dust
Is there anything we can trust?
I’ve been dreaming of a wonderful life
Live in peace with a child and a beautiful wife
 But life’s a liar baby, life’s a cheat
 Making promises it cannot keep
I’ve seen the promise, man I’ve seen a light
I've been breathing in my freedom after such a long fight
But I’ve been damaged by the damage done
Now I’m living out my life like I’m on the run..

Created by dj and producer duo Sebo Sellout & Flow One, who have dished up a delicious chopped, looped, cut and paste mix of rare and hard-to-find records from all over the globe varying from scout troop flutes, psychedelic folk and exotic funk served up with amusing vocal clips in what they call a 'modern, multi-track break and sample mix' Apparently 12 months in the making this is the duo's  first mix together and well worth the wait in our opinion....Recommended and a D/L for pimping in ya wheels!

With the UK going bonkers this weekend over a certain Queen's jubilee here at mytea@om we will instead be celebrating the life of the far superior Queen of Disco, listening to her classic LP's, remixs & re-edits. One such gem was a single sided limited release back in '09 by Scottish producer  William Threlfall. A real hard to find piece of wax, fusing Donna vocals from 'I Feel Love' and Williams previously released  'The Shivering.'  Still one of the best remixes to date.

Knowledge

After the remergence of Belgium's R&S records from their self imposed 5 year hiatus as one of electronic dance music's more forward thinking imprints, comes the relaunch of their sister-label Apollo. From the early '90s through 2002 Apollo became one of the most respected labels in ambient techno, having released genre classics by such pioneering producers as Aphex Twin 'Selected Ambient Works 85-92', Jam & Spoon, Mixmaster Morris, Ken IshiiDJ Krush & Toshinori Kondo and Biosphere among many others. The first release is by Mancunian producer Synkro aka Joe McBride titled 'Broken Promise', normally known for his high tempo deep bass driven music, here he slows right down with some beautifully delicate yet hauntingly sounding ambience. On the track ‘Knowledge’ he delves into tabla percusion with deep dubby pads that transports you off to some far away place! Recommended..

Synkro is also offering up a free track 'I miss you' (not on the EP) courtesy of halcyon

A distinctive, funny and intimate film about the very last surviving vinyl record shop in Teesside, in the North East of England. Over the last five years an independent record shop has closed in the UK every three days. A cultural haven in one of the most deprived areas in the UK, SOUND IT OUT  documents a place that is thriving against the odds and the local community that keeps it alive. Directed by Jeanie Finlay who grew up three miles from the shop. The film depicts the irreplaceable role music plays in our lives..High Fidelity with a Northern Accent. Highly Recommended!
